About
I rediscovered my love of clay when I joined a course run by ceramic artist Rosa Nguyen at The Hampstead School of Art. My daughter was 6 months old & those 3 hours a week were my self-indulgent escape. The course finished & I signed up for another, then another. I was totally hooked.
I am now lucky enough to now have my own small studio space housed in one of the vaults under 28 Church Row in Hampstead where my husband & I own a restaurant.
I work with a range of stoneware clays & my pieces are predominantly hand built using a range of techniques; coiling, slab building & slip casting but a more recent initiation into throwing has introduced new forms into my work.
Although I love to play & experiment with shape & form, my focus is to create functional pieces that can be enjoyed every day.
I enjoy the process & time it takes to make something by hand as well as the unpredictability of the clay. Opening a kiln, particularly after a glaze firing is always surprising & often not as intended but there is always something to learn & something to love.
